Most excellent. There’s no doubt that Chris Wright might be the single best cabinet position nominee in my lifetime. Certainly, there’s never been an energy secretary who is so clearly qualified for the position.

The most interesting point might be that the greens really don’t know what’s coming. I do not know Mr. Wright but if he can be the pro energy evangelist and can explain to the American people why anthropogenic climate change is so minimal, likely a net positive, and certainly worth the trade off for all the positives that fossil fuels give mankind, he could not only change the narrative, I dare say he could change the world.

We need people like the a public voice to say out loud that fossil fuels made the modern world, from life saving plastics, to fertilizers needed to grow enough food, to cheap, reliable, full-time, scalable, plentiful energy that allows man to protect itself against the cold and heat, to housing that protects us from storms, to water and sewer treatment systems (and more).

Maybe he could hire Billy Bob Thornton as his spokesperson...

Which would be outstanding!

I appreciate Chris Wright's forthright advocacy for energy sanity. "Antis" only discuss the harms. Chris Wright discusses the significant positives of our modern energy system..

The only logical way to explain the “antis’” position is that they start with the anti-human premise that any alteration to the “natural world” is, in and of itself, a negative. This is the Malthusian view where mankind is inherently the problem and that we should restore the whole world to what it was before we came on the scene. Of course we’d all be better off if they each started the process but mixing a bottle of pills and vodka one by one, but they won’t do that, leaving us forced to live with their insane beliefs and policies.

I don't know that there can be a clearer example of the difference between the Trump administration and the Biden administration than Mr Wright. Competence and knowledge in his field vs. ticking personal characteristic check boxes.

Well, Chris Wright would check the white male box (if there was one). 🤣

I appreciate your powerful conclusion regarding Energy Secretary nominee Chris Wright (and Deputy Energy Secretary nominee James Danly,) " By embracing innovation and leveraging all energy sources, including coal, nuclear, and clean natural gas, we can chart a path forward that protects the environment and the prosperity of the American people."

I just finished re-reading Emmet Penney's two-part heavily-footnoted series regarding nuclear power. I highly recommend this pair of articles. "The Rise and Fall of the American Electrical Grid," American Affairs, Fall 2022 https://www.realclearpolicy.com/2022/10/17/rise_and_fall_of_the_american_electrical_grid_859405.html and "Who Killed Nuclear Energy and How to Revive It" American Affairs, Summer 2022 https://americanaffairsjournal.org/2022/05/who-killed-nuclear-energy-and-how-to-revive-it/ Your comments dovetail well with Emmet Penny's

At the end of February, 2024, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was friendly to me when we talked briefly following her comments during a Hispanics in Energy conference at the U.S. Department of Energy. I anticipate a strong positive response from Energy Secretary Chris Wright when he meets me. Ditto for Deputy Secretary James Danly.

Thank you gentlemen, let's not forget he is entering a well funded den if wolves. It won't be easy.

Chris Wright is a superstar. For too long oil/gas leaders have bent a knee and knuckled under to green, enviro assaults. Chris forthrightly and with candor takes on the jibbberish meated out by enviros and sends it back with a smash detailing the benefits to humankind of fossil fuels. If you want to follow the lead of Germany and UK in unwinding their national prosperity for an ideological dream based on quick sand, I wish you well, but I am not following and hopefully the Trump administration navigates a path back to sanity, and prosperity. Take the environmental ball and chain off our ankles.

The inflation reduction act had sufficient money to build around 5 full size nuclear reactors, that could provide power for 60 years. These reactors, alone, could reduce our emissions 10%.

Think about that.

Great article Isaac. I read the article you referenced on the Moss landing fires, current and present. It told how battery storage has increased 7 fold in California from 1,474 MW to 10,383 MW between 2021 and 2024, the latter enough power for 750 homes. The Green Industry reports such facts as the solution for all energy needs.

It would be nice to see a report on the status of battery storage. What are the costs and to what extent is battery storage meeting growing energy needs, especially in light of wind and solar playing a diminished role during the Trump Administration.

Appointing an energy secretary that understands energy?

Will the insanity never stop?

Doesn’t Trump know this is a job for a philosophy major?

Write said “warming was less important than fighting global energy poverty” .

When asked if he believed climate change was real he said Yes , But that he stood by his last statement.

What??? So the end of the world as we know is okay because we need electricity to power our televisions enough to watch it happen .

The guys worth 171 million dollars from oil and natural gas. He can afford to watch it all happen without short term harm to himself .

He said “There isn’t dirty energy and clean energy, all energies are different, and they have different trade-offs,”

Ya his energy got us this last year above 1.5 degrees for 12 straight months above what scientists said we shouldn’t be going .

All parts of solar panels, windmills, and energy storage batteries ( grid scale storage batteries are popping up all over the world now with many more in the pipes lines saving the very energy he wants to use for when it’s needed most ) can be recycled now and reused .

Can you recycle one quart of burnt fossil fuel ?

When asked if he implement the IRA laws and rules regarding loans to energy sources. He said

“My goal will be to implement the laws of the land and maybe make some decisions on allocation of capital or funds that are approved by congressional bodies,” Wright said.

“And I will seek to allocate those funds in the most efficient way to grow our supply of affordable, reliable, secure energy and to invest in technologies that can’t do that today, but have a clear pathway to do that in the future.”

What he means of course is , as long as I’m lining my pockets and the pockets of fossil fuel stockholders, I’ll take all the corporate welfare I can get from the federal government.

Anything that doesn’t do that ,I’ll do my best to get rid , of because it will hurt our bottom line weather it makes sense to do so or not if it makes me and my friends that much more fantastically rich that’s what matters .

And of course surprise surprises he couldn’t give the committee he was supposed to testify before his financial disclosure forms in time for them to look them over before the committee met . Who could have taught him that trick I wonder? It wouldn’t be Donald Trump would it be? He’d never think of doing something like that.

And of course he said “ its to early to comment of hydrogen tax credits “ the Biden administration has just finalized.

What he of course meant was , we aren’t finished figuring out how to make the maximum profit’s by greenwashing hydrogen , so we can use as much natural gas to make as much to make hydrogen as we can . And use even more corporate welfare from the federal government.

Climate change is real, of course. Only a fool would suggest the climate is static.

He is just saying there is change but it’s not a problem.

That’s what the facts and data show.

He’s correct
