The hype cycle, same game different subsidies. Even though JPM wrote this it won’t get any MSM coverage because it doesn’t fit the green narrative. Green is becoming a toxic word in my world. Thanks EBB for sharing and summarizing.

It seems there is definitely a vibe shift happening on energy right now

Largely due to information provided by some great writers on Substack.

I've focused on nuclear power's "air and water pollution reduction" instead of "emissions reduction" for some time. I have been criticized for this but I'm not shifting.

Exactly, emissions don’t necessarily equate to something bad.

I agree. Note I just posted a comment regarding the JPMC report's stance regarding nuclear power. I appreciated the debunking of nuclear power opponent Mark Z. Jacobson.

If only the green zealots didn't have to fight the LAWS of Thermodynamics, green hydrogen could work. All we need is unicorn blood and fairy dust and "political will". Stupid is as stupid does...

Will worthies like JPMorgan boss Jamie Dimon who have hitherto gone along with the Net Zero agenda continue to support it when its only political supporters in the US are the incorrigible lunatics of the Democratic Party? Somehow I doubt it.

He’s been quite bipolar on this topic. The party in charge is usually who puts the most wind in his sails. I guess he’s almost lost the tailwind from the previous admin so he can reverse course.

Does the section on green hydrogen cover how transportation-specific issues affect cost? Storage challenges of low density gas, pipeline limitations, hydrogen embrittlement and corrosiveness, safety concerns like flammability and leakage, cost of transportation over long distances etc, or are these too hard to quantify? The only green part is the colour you turn when you get bilious from reading the propaganda.

It touched on some of that but not in depth. Do you have info on the other topics you mentioned?

Great information, team. Another source who summarizes the 'effectiveness' of wind and solar is Dave Walsh https://truthsocial.com/@davewalshenergy.

Thanks for this, it is reporting like this that repeatedly proves Doomberg's point that in the war between platitudes and physics, physics is undefeated.

Ultimately, i am most frustrated by the amount of resources wasted on the transition effort, resources that could be used for so many other valuable purposes.

From what I've read and seen, Jigar Shah is a leader of privatize profits and subsidize losses.

The ink or press to production or generation ratio for BESS is astounding. BESS produced 363GWh globally in 2024 and there was approx. 30,000TWh of electricity generated globally in 2024. https://chrisbond.substack.com/p/battery-reality

I take it that the fire at the BESS site in Moss Landing, CA has made the curtailment levels in CA worse this spring than expected.

Great refresher of ehere we stand. Interesting that the cost of batteries coming down, but that 15 year life still makes them an expensive option.

I do believe any optimizem about the end of the Ukraine 🇺🇦 war is misplaced. That conflict has a long way to go.

Down here in Louisiana, the loophole appears to be building natural gas generation that is capable of burning hydrogen blends. And also a lot of talk about future carbon capture is always welcome.

In reality what ends up happening is a natural gas plant is built and all the pie-in-the-sky bullshit disappears. I am starting to feel the pendulum swing against the fear of CO2 with big tech hilariously leading the about-face after railing on traditional generation for decades. The first tech company to be bold enough to build new coal generation will be the first domino of many.

I enjoy how an element like Hydrogen can be green, blue, or brown (or is it gray?). An element, mind you.
